Americas Unite is a US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed in 2020 to facilitate programs that provide food assistance and other social services to vulnerable populations. The plurality of our name "Americas Unite" acknowledges that the United States of America isn’t the only America in the Western Hemisphere and that unity between nations is vital to the livelihood of all that dwell here. On this land we are all Americans.

Apoyo Comunitario Manos Amigues AC is our partner nonprofit organization based in Mexico. Manos Amigues is the first LGBT+ Community Center in Mexico City which combines food assistance with cultural programming. Our programming is run by LGBT+ people in order to provide a safe space for our community, however our doors are open to everyone regardless of their identity.

Our Story

Beginning with a daily meal program in Mexico City’s first LGBT+ Senior Center and providing groceries to 300 people per week during the worst months of the COVID pandemic our team has over 10 years of experience working in food assistance and other social services in Mexico City.

The soup kitchen in Manos Amigues opened in July 2021 and currently serves over 200 hot meals daily every Monday - Friday to people in need in Mexico City.

Manos Amigues also serves as a clothing donation center, provides regular HIV/STI testing and education free of charge and organizes an annual toy drive for children living in extreme poverty

Queer Cultural Center

Our new space is equipped with a stage, stage lighting and full sound system where we present a variety of live music, theater, poetry, dance, DJ’s and film screenings on a weekly basis. The space also features an art gallery where we showcase a different artist each month with the goal of getting queer artists more exposure and bringing people together in an atmosphere of community and creativity.

“I’m homeless. I have a 7-year old daughter and a 2-year old son. Since the pandemic began I’ve been out of work. This program helps me feed my kids.”

— Susana, mother and food pantry recipient
